A Unique Journey Through Colourful Galleries and Cultured Neighbourhoods

Nicola Rubinstein – internationally recognised visual artist – invites you on an exclusive voyage of discovery through the art and culture scene of West Berlin. Bold splashes of colour and mixed media approaches characterize Nicola's approach to the canvas: you will be in good hands as she whisks you away through the city, weaving together contemporary artistic perspectives, historical context, and personal insight through a carefully curated selection of locations.

The result is an unforgettable urban experience that goes far beyond a standard guided tour – leaving deeply personal images of of the city upon you, rendered in bright and colourful brushstrokes.

Kickoff at Café Hardenberg

Your personalized journey begins at the elegant Café Hardenberg. Over coffee or tea, you will get to know your host personally, bringing to the table your queries, questions – and ideas – as you acclimatize to the artist's way of interpreting and representing the city.

Internationally Renowned Galleries of Charlottenburg

Refreshed and receptive, you will visit two world-class galleries in the immediate vicinity: Galerie Michael Werner and Galerie Max Hetzler. For decades, both have been key players in the international art market, representing artists of global significance: you will dip into both for some fine art inspiration, and emerge rejuvenated and stimulated.

The tour then continues across Steinplatz, where memorial plaques bear witness to the victims of National Socialism and Stalinism. Directly opposite stands the University of the Arts – a testament to the neighbourhood's vibrant cultural tradition and one that remains very much alive today. You will enjoy drinking in the atmosphere of this famous neighbourhood as the next generation of Berlin’s artistic talent walks to and fro, providing ample opportunity for people-watching!

C/O Berlin – From the Amerika Haus to a Centre for Contemporary Photography

Next, you’ll arrive at the former Amerika Haus, built in 1956–57 as a U.S. Cultural Centre during the International Building Exhibition. Today, it is home to C/O Berlin – one of Europe's foremost destinations for contemporary photography and a Charlottenburg cultural hotspot.

With her trained eye and keen sensitivity to visual language, Nicola will guide you through the current exhibition while bringing the building's rich history to life – revealing it as a fascinating nexus between transatlantic heritage and contemporary art. Afterwards, your mind still dwelling on the images you have just collected, you'll stroll along Hardenbergstraße – past the historic Delphi Filmpalast and the Theater des Westens – before arriving at the elegant Fasanenstraße.

Fasanenstraße: Elegance, Creativity, and Jewish Life

Fasanenstraße is a street where different dimensions of the city collide: here, architectural beauty meets cultural depth. Magnificent Art Nouveau facades guide the way to landmarks such as the Künstlerhaus St. Lukas, the Ludwig Erhard Haus, the Jewish Community Centre, and the Wintergarten ensemble – home to the Literaturhaus and Villa Grisebach.

As you wander along this significant route, a rich and layered perspective unfolds: a window into the upper-middle-class life of the German capital, and into the history – both past and present – of Jewish Berlin. In an arresting, moving, and topical way, past and present enter into dialogue with one another, mingling meaningfully as you tread towards your last destination.

The Culinary Finale at the Paris Bar

Your cultural journey culminates in style at the legendary Paris Bar – a beloved meeting place for Berlin's art and media worlds. Surrounded by an inspiring atmosphere, the day's experiences – personal stories, bright brushstrokes, and arresting photography – will linger on over conversation and classic French cuisine, ensuring your cosmopolitan experience concludes in a truly European manner!
