About Peter

The award-winning television journalist Peter Dollé is living history. He was there in person when Ronald Reagan famously declared, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” and when a visibly unsettled Günter Schabowski uttered the memorable words: “As far as I know … this is immediately, without delay.”

His career began in 1978 in Los Angeles, before he moved to Massachusetts, where he worked as a radio DJ. In 1980, he relocated to Germany’s divided city, hosting the morning and midday news at AFN Radio & TV.

While working, he completed a university degree, learned German, and specialized in Allied occupation law – providing him with a solid foundation for reporting on the Berlin Brigade and political events in the western part of the city.

From the 1980s onward, he regularly produced TV segments for USA Network and The European Journal (PBS Oregon), which was recognized in 1994 by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as the best television news program.

Later, he worked for NBC, CNBC, Marketplace News, JN1, and Deutsche Welle TV. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he became chair of the Foreign Press Association Berlin and conducted interviews over decades with leading figures such as Angela Merkel, Egon Krenz, and Willem Dafoe.

Peter Dollé lives and works in Berlin.
