Join Dr Amelia McConville for an immersive art and science journey through Berlin’s major museums and renowned galleries. Blending historical insight with artistic exploration, she reveals the deep and often surprising connections between two disciplines frequently seen as separate.

Welcome: Tea & Coffee

Your experience begins over tea or coffee at Egen Tied on Invalidenstraße, where Dr McConville will welcome you. In this relaxed setting, you’ll receive an engaging introduction to Berlin’s historical and contemporary relationship with art and science. Guests are encouraged to share their own questions, perspectives, and curiosities, setting the tone for a collaborative and thought-provoking day.

Museum für Naturkunde

A short walk brings you to the Museum für Naturkunde, where your journey begins. Here, you’ll explore the scientific study of the natural world through Dr McConville’s expert guidance. As she weaves together stories of scientific discovery, artistic influence, and philosophical debate, the museum’s collections come vividly to life. A personalised tour highlights not only the exhibits themselves, but also the curatorial choices, hidden narratives, and unexpected artistic dimensions within them.

A side note: The Museum of Natural History in Berlin is known for combining art and research, in part to make knowledge about nature accessible in new, sensory ways.

Lunch Break

Following your exploration, you’ll pause for lunch at the nearby Amy’s Café. In a bright and welcoming setting, you can reflect on the morning’s discoveries, exchange insights, and continue the conversation over a relaxed meal.

Museumsinsel

A short tram ride takes you to Museumsinsel, Berlin’s UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the Alte Nationalgalerie, the focus shifts to art, offering a compelling counterpoint to the natural history you’ve just experienced. Guided by Dr McConville, you’ll explore the collections while tracing your own interpretive path through the galleries. You’ll be invited to consider the parallels between scientific inquiry and artistic representation, uncovering connections that deepen understanding of both.

By the end of the visit, you’ll be brimming with ideas—enriched by seeing art and science side by side, and inspired to continue asking new questions.

After the Experience

Your journey doesn’t end there. With the Berlin Museum Pass (included in the price), you’re free to continue exploring the delights of the Museumsinsel at your own pace over the following days. You’ll also receive a list of recommendations for further art–science exhibitions, events, and experiences across Berlin.
