Berlin Fashion Adventure
Exclusive Insights into the Studios of Berlin’s Most Sought-After Independent Labels
Contemporary Fashion Between Subculture and Urban History
Berlin has long been — and remains — a vibrant city where young creatives can experiment and continually reinvent themselves. On this excursion, fashion expert Freddie Wolff invites you to experience this distinctive spirit in selected studios and to discover fashion not as an industry, but as an artistic practice of “world-building”: an expression of identity, resistance, and visions of the future.
Opening at the Café
The experience begins with a cup of coffee or tea. In a relaxed setting, Freddie Wolff introduces you to the history and present-day dynamics of Berlin’s fashion scene. At its heart lies the question of whether — and how — fashion can be reimagined beyond elitism, exploitation, and ecological neglect, and why Berlin offers particularly fertile ground for such rethinking.
SELVA HUYGENS – Sustainable High Fashion
A short walk brings you to the studio of SELVA HUYGENS, a Neukölln-based label that creates striking outfits from industrial scrap — including car seats. A mix of serendipity, good fortune, and bold creative risk-taking has put the label on the radar of leading international stylists. During a personal studio visit, you will see how fashion here is conceived simultaneously as artistic practice, political statement, and experimental material exploration — a creative engagement with materials that unites sustainability, innovation, and aesthetic vision.
Haderlump & Supermarque – Fashion as World-Making
At Haderlump, fashion is understood as a timeless force: clothing becomes an extension of the self, a form of armor, and a mode of expression in an unpredictable world. It protects, empowers, and reveals — and is seen not merely as fabric, but as a carrier of stories, individuality, and conviction.
The Berlin label Supermarque is opening a new retail concept in Kreuzberg. Across 130 square meters, fashion becomes a stage for collections, collaborations, and conversations that connect design, identity, and entrepreneurship. In addition to its own menswear line, Supermarque presents a curated selection of essentials from other brands, with a focus on longevity, craftsmanship, and timeless style.
Hausvogteiplatz – Memory and Rupture
At Hausvogteiplatz — once the center of European textile production — history and the present converge. Today, little remains of its former significance, and therein lies its symbolic power: a site that embodies transformation, loss, and renewal within Berlin’s fashion history.
Dinner
The excursion ends with a dinner together with your Guru at the historic Clärchens Ballhaus, where the experiences of the excursion resonate in lively conversation.
