The art historian and Bauhaus expert Dr. Andreas Butter is a highly skilled cultural mediator.
Since 1992, he has worked as a cultural correspondent, author, exhibition curator, and lecturer – including for IES and CIEE Berlin – as well as an independent heritage preservation consultant.
His research focuses on the urban and architectural history of the 19th and 20th centuries, particularly modernism in East Germany and the former GDR. Dr. Butter has contributed to projects for the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa), the Hermann-Henselmann Foundation, the Berlinische Galerie, and the Leibniz Institute for Research on Society and Space (IRS) in Erkner.
His publications cover topics such as GDR architecture, urban development, and the interwar period, including Neues Leben, neues Bauen, East German modernism, and architectural export from the GDR.
