About Luke F.

A passionate history enthusiast with deep knowledge of German and Berlin history as well as Berlin’s LGBTIQ+ heritage, and the city’s rich Jewish past, Luke takes visitors beyond the usual tourist routes to discover unique places and stories rarely found in guidebooks.

Originally from Stuttgart, Luke has called Berlin home since 1984, apart from a decade spent in California, where he studied and worked for one of the world’s leading e-commerce companies.

Luke guides guests through Berlin’s dazzling - and sometimes darker - 1920s, when the city stood at the forefront of art, culture, and social change. Think Christopher Isherwood and Cabaret. As a gay Berliner himself, Luke offers personal insight into both the city’s historic and contemporary LGBTIQ+ scene, connecting Berlin’s vibrant past with its dynamic present.

For those interested in Berlin’s Jewish history, Luke leads thoughtful explorations of important sites in and around the city that reflect centuries of German-Jewish life and culture. His tours also address Germany’s descent into barbarism during the Nazi era, the years from 1933–1945 and the Shoah, with sensitivity and historical depth.

Luke is an extremely likable and eloquent conversationalist. It’s enriching and enjoyable to spend time with him and coax fascinating stories out of him about “his Berlin.”
