About Dr. phil. Hans

He brings history to life through storytelling. When the Jewish Museum Berlin opened its doors in 2001 in Daniel Libeskind’s iconic building, Dr von Seggern was already recognized as a pioneer in museum education. He understands that compelling narratives and interactive approaches are essential to engaging audiences and creating memorable museum experiences.

His academic background is rooted in literary studies and philosophy. As the author of books and essays on thinkers such as Friedrich Nietzsche, Baruch Spinoza, and Walter Benjamin, he has explored fundamental questions of aesthetics, modernity, and intellectual freedom. He has also applied his expertise to the development of innovative audio tours for leading cultural institutions, including the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn and the Stadtmuseum Berlin.

In addition, Dr von Seggern is a regular contributor to Der Tagesspiegel, where he writes about Berlin’s museums and exhibitions, and he has published numerous essays in Lettre International.

His commitment to innovative forms of knowledge transfer in an increasingly digital world takes him, as a representative of tonwelt -guiding solutions, to museums across the globe. Yet few places inspire him as deeply as Berlin’s Museum Island. Here, he is captivated by the Prussian vision of creating a “sanctuary for art and science” - a place dedicated to presenting nothing less than the cultural history of humanity in all its breadth and richness.
