Dr. Hans von Seggern

About Dr. Hans

He transforms history into stories: When the Jewish Museum Berlin opened its doors in 2001 in the spectacular Libeskind building, he was already a leading figure in museum education. He understands how crucial narrative and interactive concepts are in guided tours for capturing his audience’s attention.

His academic roots lie in literary studies and philosophy. Dr von Seggern is the author of books and essays on figures such as Friedrich Nietzsche, Baruch Spinoza and Walter Benjamin, in which he explores questions of aesthetics, modernity and intellectual freedom. He has also put his expertise to good use in creating engaging audio tours for renowned institutions such as the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn and the Stadtmuseum Berlin.

Furthermore, von Seggern writes regularly for the newspaper Der Tagesspiegel on Berlin’s museum and exhibition scene and publishes articles in Lettre International.

His commitment to innovative knowledge dissemination in an increasingly digitized society leads him, as a representative of tonwelt – guiding solutions, to (almost) every museum in the world on a regular basis. On Berlin’s Museum Island, he is fascinated by the Prussian kings’ idea of presenting nothing less than a comprehensive cultural history of humanity as part of a “sanctuary for art and science..”
